Our Virginia Court Site specializes in providing housing for young adults who are transitioning out of foster care and needing additional supports.

The Virginia location also provides support for adults who have a history of chronic homelessness impacted by societal stressors including mental illness and cognitive impairments.

How We Do It

We are a licensed service provider who accepts MR/RC, CADI, TBI waivers and other funding streams to provide support to teach independent living skills. This includes teaching clients about their mental illness to help in psychological recovery.

1. Apartment Living- Each consumer rents their own apartment where skills are taught to their individual learning styles in their own environment. This includes teaching how to organize their personal daily schedules to include work or school, personal cares, cooking, shopping, cleaning and time management skills.
2. Finances and Budget- Each consumer is taught at their level to learn the skills of money management. Grandma's Place offers Rep Payee services.
3. Community Involvement- It is the goal of Grandma's Place to teach that all people are part of the community and that we participate by bringing our strengths. We do this by participating in cultural events, volunteering, participating in recreational opportunities, community places of worship among other opportunities.
